71st Median

Beautification & Resiliency

Joint initiative with HBCA & The City of Miami

  • There are 2 main focuses within this project - firstly, we are concerned with things like dumping, littering as well as planting and beautification.

The other challenge that this project is addressing is flooding and drainage.

  • We formalizing our own plan for the median with neighborhood funding, working with the city on what their plans are for the median - to ensure they do not have any sub-terranean work planned on the median.

And finally we are working with the city to understand how they can best support our flooding needs - either through storm drainage management or putting pumps in place.

Baywood Park Sea Wall

Beautification & Resiliency

Joint initiative with HBCA, BRA, and City of Miami

  • The BRA has been in touch with Christine King and made great progress in getting her to focus on the needs of the sea wall in front of Baywood Park.

Members of the HBCA have been in contact with https://www.kinddesigns.com/ - who 3D print sea wall infrastructure and are becoming the gold standard of the sea wall in South Florida.

Next step: To schedule a site visit with Commissioner King, Kind Designs, the BRA and a surveyor.

We then need to complete a survey to understand the condition of the sea wall and the scope of work. Kind Designs can then create a budget. With this information, the City of Miami can then apply for a permit for this work to be completed.
